Recognizes water safety as a priority, noting that drowning causes more deaths among children ages 1-4 than any other cause except congenital anomalies, with an average of 10 unintentional drowning deaths per day in the United States from 2005-2009.

Honors the Future Problem Solvers Club of North Ridge Middle School in Danville for developing an 8-lesson water safety curriculum teaching 6 safety tips: being weather-wise, staying with a buddy, using life jackets, swimming only in lifeguard areas, entering water feet first, and obeying safety signs.

Urges School District 118 and all other Illinois school districts to consider adopting the water safety curriculum developed by the student club.

Commends the 16 named students and their teacher supervisor Lori Woods for their initiative in educating the public on water safety dangers and practices.
