Honors Trooper Layton T. Davis, who was born June 18, 1925, served 19 years with the Illinois State Police assigned to District 12, and was killed in the line of duty on March 18, 1976 during a traffic stop on Interstate 57 near Effingham

Trooper Davis was shot and killed by two occupants of a vehicle he had stopped after being notified one was wanted on a Cook County warrant

Copies of the resolution are to be presented to Trooper Davis's family, the Illinois State Police, the Effingham Sunrise Rotary Club, the City of Effingham Mayor, and the Illinois Department of Transportation Secretary
