Designates the Big Muddy Bridge east of Waltonville on IL Route 148 as the "Captain Joseph Laur Memorial Bridge"

Captain Joseph Laur (1814-1895) emigrated from Canada to Massachusetts in 1833 and established a permanent home in Knob Prairie, Jefferson County in 1841

Laur mustered into the Union Army on October 19, 1861 as a First Lieutenant, was promoted to Captain on June 10, 1862, and fought in major Civil War battles including Fort Donelson, Shiloh, Corinth, and the siege of Vicksburg before being discharged in September 1865

Requests the Illinois Department of Transportation to erect plaques or signs at suitable locations identifying the bridge as the "Captain Joseph Laur Memorial Bridge" in compliance with state and federal regulations

Directs copies of the resolution to be presented to the Secretary of the Department of Transportation, the Mayor of Waltonville, and the family of Captain Joseph Laur
