Illinois currently has 98,353 Medicare-eligible retired state employees, teachers, and community college employees participating in state health insurance plans.

Beginning February 1, 2014, all Medicare-eligible participating members are required to enroll in Medicare Advantage plans instead of their previous health insurance plans.

The resolution urges the House to allow Medicare-eligible members to remain in Quality Care Health Plans (QCHP) rather than be automatically enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans to prevent disruption of established doctor-patient relationships.

The resolution requests the Department of Central Management Services to continue working with members to facilitate the best possible transition to new health insurance plans during the required change.
