Illinois Workforce Investment Board created by the Illinois Workforce Investment Board Act serves as the State advisory board on workforce preparation policy.

Board coordinates and integrates workforce preparation services and programs, measures their performance, and fosters cooperation between government and the private sector to meet employer and worker needs.

Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity identifies workforce areas and organizations eligible to receive Workforce Investment Grants for innovation projects exploring workforce development strategies, based on Board recommendations.

House encourages the Illinois Workforce Investment Board to add cosmetology programs, including barber and beauty schools, to the list of programs eligible to receive grants from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
