Congratulates Illinois charter school students, families, teachers, and administrators for their contributions to education and efforts in closing the academic achievement gap, particularly in disadvantaged urban communities.

Recognizes charter schools as tuition-free public schools that enroll any interested student through random lottery when oversubscribed and promote innovation and excellence in education.

Acknowledges that high-performing charter schools increase student achievement and college-going rates while serving as learning laboratories for new educational models and methods.

Supports the ideals and goals of the 16th annual National Charter Schools Week to be observed May 3-9, 2015, throughout Illinois communities.
