Urges the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to study the feasibility of mandating electronic transmission of prescription discontinuation, cancellation, or stop orders from health care providers to pharmacies.

Identifies a gap in Illinois where pharmacies continue dispensing medications after prescribers have discontinued them, exposing patients to increased risk and cost.

Requests examination of how pharmacy auto-refill programs contribute to unnecessary filling of discontinued medications that are no longer endorsed by prescribers.

Requires the Department to submit study findings and recommendations to the General Assembly, Governor, and Secretary of Financial and Professional Regulation by December 31, 2016.
