Designates May 2016 as "Building Safety Month" in Illinois to raise public awareness about building codes, fire prevention, and disaster resilience.

Recognizes the International Code Council and local building safety officials, architects, engineers, and construction professionals for their role in ensuring safe structures.

Acknowledges the International Codes as widely adopted building safety, energy, and fire prevention codes used by most U.S. cities, counties, and states.

Encourages Illinois citizens to consider projects improving building safety and sustainability, and to recognize essential services provided by local and state building departments and fire prevention bureaus.

Directs presentation of a copy of this resolution to the International Code Council as a symbol of respect and esteem.
