• Illinois House of Representatives commemorates the 24th anniversary of sister-state relations with Taiwan established in 1992, recognizing shared values of freedom, democracy, human rights, and rule of law.

• Taiwan is the world's 19th-largest economy and Illinois' 19th-largest export market, with 2015 exports totaling $634 million (agricultural and food products comprising over 50% of the total at $319.5 million).

• Resolution endorses negotiation and signing of a bilateral investment agreement between Taiwan and the United States to strengthen trade relations, facilitate economic ties with Illinois, and reduce tariffs.

• Resolution supports Taiwan's participation in international organizations that impact health, safety, and well-being of Taiwanese citizens and contribute to the global community.

• Copies of the resolution are directed to be sent to U.S. Secretary of State John F. Kerry, members of the Illinois congressional delegation, and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago.
