Honors Derrick Nathan Burgess for his years of public service to Sauk Village, where he has lived since 1982.

Appointed as Village Trustee on June 13, 2006, becoming the first African-American man to serve in that position in the village's 49-year history; re-elected in 2007, 2011, and 2015.

Served as chairman of the Parks and Recreation Committee (2006-2009), Treasurer of the Fiftieth Anniversary Committee (2007), and Chairman of the Economic Development Committee (2009-2013), during which Winpak was secured at the Sauk Village LogistiCenter.

Chaired the first Sauk Village Intergovernmental Relations Committee (2013-2015) and initiated monthly Town Hall Meetings for residents beginning in June 2013.

Directs presentation of a suitable copy of the resolution to Burgess as a symbol of the House's esteem and respect.
