Illinois House of Representatives recognizes Chris and Ryan Scott, both EMTs, for heroic emergency response actions in their neighborhood.

On June 7, 2015, Joseph Derk suffered sudden cardiac arrest while swimming at his family home; his mother Tammy administered CPR while his father Joe called 911.

Chris and Ryan Scott, who lived two doors away and recognized the address as their former home, immediately responded to the emergency call.

Ryan Scott performed chest compressions while Chris Scott performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation; Chris accompanied Joseph in the ambulance where paramedics continued treatment.

Joseph Derk made a full recovery; suitable copies of the resolution will be presented to Chris and Ryan Scott as a symbol of respect and esteem.
