The President proclaimed May 28, 2012 through November 11, 2025 as the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.

Prairie State College partnered with the United States Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemoration to honor Vietnam veterans, including POWs and those listed as MIA, and their families.

58,260 men and women died in the Vietnam War, including 14 from Chicago Heights and Park Forest.

The House of Representatives thanks Vietnam veterans and their families for their sacrifices and recognizes Prairie State College, the City of Chicago Heights, and the Village of Park Forest for their efforts to honor those who served.

Suitable copies of the resolution will be presented to Prairie State College, the City of Chicago Heights, and the Village of Park Forest as a symbol of gratitude and respect.
