Illinois House congratulates Goreville High School Blackcats boys baseball team on winning the IHSA Class 1A state championship.

Blackcats defeated Somonauk 17-7 at Dozer Park after rallying from a 7-0 deficit, scoring 14 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to win in walk-off fashion.

Team finished season with 28-6 record, setting a school record for wins, and the 17 runs scored set a Class 1A record and was the second-most ever in an IHSA state title game.

Blackcats set over 20 records at the state tournament, including the most runs by any team at the state tournament since the IHSA adopted its current four-class system.

Resolution recognizes team members, head coach Shawn Tripp, and assistant coaches Bryan Webb and Kenton Parmley as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication.
