Illinois House of Representatives congratulates Chief Tony Hernandez on his retirement as Law Office Manager to the Legal Counsel to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the Pentagon

Chief Hernandez enlisted in the United States Navy on November 23, 1992, at age 17 and served on the USS Savannah, Assault Craft Unit 2, Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit 2, USS Carl Vinson, USS Essex, and the Pentagon

Hernandez was promoted to Chief Petty Officer in September 2009 and served as Independent Duty Legalman aboard the USS Essex before assuming his final position in October 2011

Personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, five Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and numerous campaign medals and ribbons

A suitable copy of the resolution will be presented to Chief Hernandez as a symbol of esteem and respect from the Illinois House of Representatives
