Congratulates Dr. Christopher Wagoner on receiving the 2016 Rural Physician of Excellence Award from the Illinois Rural Health Association.

Dr. Wagoner graduated from the Rural Medical Education program at the University of Illinois in 2007 and serves as an associate professor of family and community medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria.

Serves as Medical Director of the Illini Rural Health Clinic since 2010 and Medical Director of Illini X-Press, providing patient care outside normal practice hours; makes house calls to elderly patients.

Oversees seven nurse practitioners to expand rural healthcare services, allowing patients to receive care closer to home rather than traveling more than an hour.

Serves on the Board of Directors for the Pike County Health Department in his volunteer capacity.
