John Walsh D'Arcy III passed away on August 23, 2016, at age 90 and was born in Joliet to parents Verna and John D'Arcy.

Served as a bombardier in the United States Navy during World War II before attending the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.

Had a banking career beginning at Pullman Bank in Chicago where he helped initiate the Illinois Bank Charge (later merged into VISA), and founded Heritage Bank and Trust in 1971.

Invested in International Games, distributor of the card game UNO, and later purchased and operated farms with his sons, founding JJD Enterprises and Caton Farms.

Served his community as President of the Joliet Rotary Club, Plainfield Village Trustee, and member of the Plainfield Library Board; was an active member of St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church and benefactor of Lewis University.
