Illinois House of Representatives thanks Tom Weisner for his service as Mayor of Aurora for more than 11 years.

Under Weisner's leadership, Aurora transformed from a "blue collar town" through neighborhood strengthening, riverfront revitalization, sustainable development, improved telecommunications infrastructure, and significant crime reduction, including zero homicides reported in 2012.

Weisner created public-private partnerships to develop RiverEdge Park music venue, maintained the city's AA bond rating during the Great Recession, and established educational programs including SPARK early education and Aurora University's STEM Partnership School.

Weisner serves as Chair of the Chicago Metropolitan Mayors Caucus, Director of the Illinois Toll Highway Authority, founding Chairman of the Northwest Water Planning Alliance, and Chairman of OnLight Aurora's 50-mile fiber optic network.

House directs that a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to Weisner as a symbol of esteem and respect, and wishes him success and happiness in future endeavors.
