Interstate 80 between the I-55 exit in Joliet and Route 30 has experienced 8 fatalities and 1,456 crashes since 2011 due to high congestion rates.

The Illinois Department of Transportation is conducting a study of I-80 from Ridge Road to US Route 30 in preparation for reconstruction, which may not occur for several years.

Urges the Illinois Department of Transportation to erect signage notifying motorists of congestion and possible dangers along Interstate 80 between the I-55 exit in Joliet and Route 30.

Requires copies of the resolution to be delivered to the Secretary of the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Mayor of the City of Joliet.
