Illinois House of Representatives mourns the death of Ronald L. Allen of Naperville, who passed away on December 2, 2016.

Ronald Allen founded A. Allen Insurance Agency in Chicago's Austin community and was one of the first African American insurance agents for Allstate Insurance Co., maintaining affiliation for 42 years until retiring in 2009.

Allen served as a social activist in DuPage County, founding the Unity Partnership outreach group to foster trust between police and residents, and served as precinct committeeman and active NAACP member.

Allen hosted "The Financial Forum" radio show on WVON-AM, authored "The Evolution of Bid Whist" in 2014, and served on boards including DuPage County Crime Stoppers and Chicago State University Alumni Board.

Allen is survived by his wife Carol, children Keith, Mark, and Vera, and granddaughter Jasmine.
