Congratulates John R. Alongi on his 90th birthday on January 1, 2017.

Recognizes Alongi's service as a soldier in the Korean War during the early 1950s and his subsequent work operating Alongi's Italian restaurant, the oldest Italian restaurant in Southern Illinois with 83 years in operation as of 2016.

Acknowledges his roles as former President of the DuQuoin Business Association and Congressional Economic Director for U.S. Representatives Kenneth Gray and Glen Poshard.

Notes his 1986 appointment by President Ronald Reagan to serve on the Conference on Small Business.

Honors his establishment of the Alongi Legacy Scholarship at Southern Illinois University to support Perry County students.
