Memorializes former State Representative Irvin Ronald Lawfer of Jo Daviess County, who passed away on December 18, 2016.

Lawfer was born May 15, 1934, in Kent, Illinois; graduated from Stockton High School in 1951; and studied agriculture and journalism at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Served as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957, including duty on the Korean Demilitarized Zone, and earned the Army Commendation Ribbon for soil erosion reduction work.

Worked as a dairy farmer in northwest Illinois and held positions as Wards Grove Township Supervisor (1974-1982) and Jo Daviess County Board member (1982-1992) before being elected to the Illinois House representing the 74th District in 1992.

Served in the Illinois House until the end of the 92nd General Assembly, chairing the House Committee on Aging during the 89th General Assembly, and is survived by his wife Patricia, four daughters, one son, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
