SB0106 Summary

• Removes the prohibition on taking bobcats in Illinois and allows hunting during an annual open season from November 1 (12:01 a.m.) to February 15 (12:00 midnight) using guns, dogs, bow and arrow, or small hand-held lights.

• Sets a season limit of one bobcat per permit and requires bobcat pelts to be tagged in accordance with federal regulations (50 CFR 23.69(e)).

• Authorizes the Department of Natural Resources to require harvest registration, establish registration procedures and fees (not to exceed $5 per pelt), and set tagging processes through administrative rules.

• Permits bobcats to be taken using small lights worn on the body or hand-held by a person on foot but not from any vehicle.
