SB0574 - Illinois Muslim American Advisory Council Act

• Establishes the Illinois Muslim American Advisory Council to advise the Governor and General Assembly on policy issues affecting Muslim Americans and immigrants, advance civic participation, and enhance trade cooperation with Muslim-majority countries.

• Council consists of 21 appointed members: one from the Governor's Office, four members each appointed by the Governor, President of the Senate, Speaker of the House, and both Minority Leaders, with a chairperson selected by the Governor.

• Appointing authorities must ensure Council diversity with respect to race, ethnicity, age, gender, and geography, with members selected for expertise in areas including higher education, business, international trade, law, social services, healthcare, and immigration.

• Council must meet at least monthly, may hold up to 2 public hearings annually, and must issue semi-annual policy recommendation reports to the Governor and General Assembly by June 30th and December 31st.

• Ten state agencies and boards designated to appoint liaisons as ex-officio members; Office of the Governor provides administrative and technical support.
