IL SB1047

Amends the Safe Pharmaceutical Disposal Act to allow cities, villages, and municipalities to place pharmaceutical disposal receptacles at city halls or police departments for public use.

Receptacles must be locked, secured, and accessible to the public with clear signage indicating they accept expired or unwanted prescription drugs and controlled substances collected in accordance with federal law.

Allows pharmaceuticals collected under the Safe Pharmaceutical Disposal Act to be destroyed using drug destruction devices in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act.

Expands the definition of "drug evidence" in the Environmental Protection Act to include used, expired, or unwanted pharmaceuticals collected under the Safe Pharmaceutical Disposal Act, not just illegal drugs collected as evidence.

Permits law enforcement agencies to destroy drug evidence in approved drug destruction devices at their storage locations under agency supervision without it being considered waste until rendered non-retrievable.
