IL SB1120

Expands theft of rented property (subsection b) to include equipment exceeding $500 in value such as tools, construction equipment, linens, tableware, tents, tables, and chairs rented for parties or events.

Adds inference that a person acts "without good cause" if they sign a rental agreement with a false name or address.

Establishes that a written demand for return of rented property must be served by certified mail and the person has 3 days from mailing to return the item.

Clarifies that equipment and other personal property provisions apply throughout subsection (b), replacing references to vehicles only.

Adds requirement that courts may order restitution to victims in addition to other penalties for theft convictions under this section.
