IL SB1377

Amends the Illinois Oil and Gas Act to expand the definition of violations to include falsification or misstatement of information on any application, permit, required record, or document submitted to the Department (previously limited to permit applications).

Establishes civil penalties of up to $5,000 for each falsification or misstatement of information and $1,000 per day for other violations.

Requires the Director to consider violation history, seriousness, environmental harm, culpability, and aggravating or mitigating factors when determining enforcement actions beyond remedial measures.

Allows the Director to modify violation notices through remedial actions, civil penalties, permit conditions, or permit revocation, with violators having 30 days to request a hearing.

Creates new Section 8d making it unlawful for any person to falsify or misstate information on applications, permits, required records, or other documents submitted to the Department.
