IL SB1388

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to authorize the Department of Transportation to place temporary stop signs as substitutes for missing or damaged permanent stop signs on state highways under its jurisdiction.

Requires temporary stop signs to be placed with adequate visibility and legibility, and removed within the duration recommendations in the State Manual unless circumstances require longer placement.

Extends the same temporary stop sign authority to local authorities for highways under their maintenance jurisdiction, with the same visibility, legibility, and duration requirements.

Applies these temporary stop sign provisions to all local authorities, including municipalities, townships, counties, and road districts maintaining highways or roads.
