IL SB1585

Requires the Illinois Commerce Commission to update its January 5, 2015 report titled "Potential Nuclear Power Plant Closings in Illinois" by June 30, 2016.

Mandates the Commission work with the Illinois Power Agency, Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, and Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to identify market-based solutions preventing premature nuclear plant closures.

Requires the updated report to address transmission resource expansion for low or zero carbon electricity sales, legislative impediments, and impacts of nuclear closures on residential, commercial, and industrial electric rates.

Sunsets on June 30, 2017, automatically repealing this provision.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
