Bill takes effect only if Senate Joint Resolution Constitutional Amendment 7 of the 99th General Assembly is adopted.

Eliminates the Lieutenant Governor from the gubernatorial succession line.

Requires all successors in the line of succession to be of the same political party as the Governor, including the Attorney General, Secretary of State, Comptroller, Treasurer, President of the Senate, and Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Adds the Minority Leader of the Senate to the succession line as the eighth in line, also requiring same-party affiliation with the Governor.

If an officer in the succession line is not qualified or their office is vacant, the next qualified officer in line shall serve as Governor.
