SB1633 Summary

• Amends the School Code to require revocation of educator licenses for conviction of terrorism as a Class X felony, in addition to existing grounds for license revocation.

• Prohibits the University of Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois University, and Western Illinois University from knowingly employing persons convicted of murder, felony murder, or terrorism.

• Prohibits community colleges from knowingly employing persons convicted of murder, felony murder, or terrorism.

• Applies employment prohibitions to convictions for attempting to commit, conspiring to commit, or soliciting these offenses, as well as equivalent offenses under other states' or federal law.

• Effective immediately upon becoming law.
