IL SB1715

Amends the Illinois Election Code to allow election authorities to cluster up to four contiguous precincts during general elections and general primary elections.

Previously, precinct clustering was only permitted during consolidated elections, consolidated primaries, special municipal primary elections, or emergency referenda.

Clustered precincts form a single voting zone with one common polling place located within the clustered precinct territory.

Election judges appointed to clustered voting zones cannot all be affiliated with the same political party, and disputes regarding voter eligibility and ballot counting are decided by judges from the affected voter's home precinct.

Does not apply to municipalities with more than 1,000,000 inhabitants.
