State Board of Education shall develop a model youth suicide awareness and prevention policy in consultation with youth suicide prevention organizations and school board representatives.

State Board of Education must compile and post recommended guidelines, training materials, and age-appropriate educational resources for youth suicide awareness and prevention on its public website.

Model policy and school board policies must include statements on awareness and prevention, staff and student education protocols, early identification procedures, intervention methods, response procedures for suicide or attempts, reporting procedures, and resource information.

Beginning with the 2015-2016 school year, each school board must review and update its suicide awareness and prevention policy to meet requirements or adopt a new compliant policy, then inform employees, parents/guardians, and post the policy online.

Act takes effect upon becoming law and is referred to as Ann Marie's Law.
