• Removes limitations on coverage for amino acid-based elemental formulas by eliminating restrictions to only eosinophilic disorders and short bowel syndrome; requires coverage when medically necessary per physician order.

• Requires group and individual major medical insurance policies and managed care plans to cover enteral feeding services and related medical supplies (tubes, catheters, pumps, formulas) when prescribed by a physician as medically necessary.

• Defines enteral feeding as delivery of nutrients directly into the stomach, duodenum, or jejunum.

• Applies coverage requirements to policies amended, delivered, issued, or renewed after the Act's effective date across state employee, county, municipal, school, HMO, limited health services, voluntary health services, and Medicaid programs.
