Regional superintendents in counties with less than 2,000,000 inhabitants may arrange district, regional, or county institutes or professional educational experiences not exceeding 4 days annually, with up to 2 days for teacher workshops, 2 days for parent-teacher conferences, or 2 days for parental institute days.

Regional superintendents in counties with 2,000,000 or more inhabitants may conduct inservice training workshops not exceeding 4 days annually under the same allocation structure as smaller counties.

Beginning with the 2016-2017 school year, teacher institutes must include instruction on the federal Americans with Disabilities Act as it pertains to the school environment at least once every 2 years.

Educational support personnel may be exempted from workshops if the content is not relevant to their work, and school districts may use one institute day on the last day of the school term.

Inservice training committees must be composed of 1/2 teachers, 1/4 school service personnel, and 1/4 administrators to establish program content and schedules.
