IL SB2151

Amends the Crime Victims Compensation Act to include legal expenses and court costs related to enforcement of crime victim's rights as compensable pecuniary losses for victims.

Extends the same legal expense and court cost compensation to other persons who have paid or become obligated to pay such expenses on behalf of the victim.

Compensation for legal expenses and court costs is available only after compensation for reasonable funeral, medical, and hospital expenses of the victim have been awarded.

Maximum award limits remain unchanged at $27,000 for crimes committed on or after August 7, 1998, with awards divided proportionally among eligible recipients if total losses exceed the maximum.
