IL SB2167

Adds new offense for falsely representing oneself as active-duty or former member of Armed Services, Reserve Forces, National Guard, or veteran to obtain money, property, or tangible benefit, classified as petty offense with fine of $100-$200.

Prohibits false representation as another actual person or representative of an organization with intent to intimidate, threaten, injure, defraud, or obtain a benefit.

Clarifies penalties for various false personation offenses, including military impersonation (petty offense), impersonating public officers or peace officers without weapons (Class 4 felony), and impersonating peace officer with weapon or during felony (Class 3 or Class 2 felony).

Extends false personation laws to cover violations accomplished through electronic communication and internet websites, not just in-person conduct.

Makes violation of false medals provision (Congressional Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross, Air Force Cross, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart) a petty offense with $100-$200 fine.
