• Allows issuance of identification cards and driver's licenses with a veteran designation to members of the armed forces, including reserve components and National Guard units, regardless of active duty service status.

• Removes the "active duty" requirement from the definition of "veteran" for purposes of obtaining veteran-designated identification cards and driver's licenses.

• Requires the Secretary of State to inquire about veteran status beginning July 1, 2015, with acceptable proof including Department of Defense form DD-214.

• Mandates the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs confirm applicant status as an honorably discharged veteran before issuance of veteran-designated credentials.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
