SB2201 Summary

• Amends the Sex Offender Registration Act to allow courts to require registration for persons convicted of battery when the court finds the battery was sexually motivated as defined in the Sex Offender Management Board Act.

• Expands the definition of individuals subject to sex offender registration requirements to include those convicted of sexually motivated battery, in addition to existing sex offenders and sexual predators.

• Registration requirement for sexually motivated battery is discretionary, allowing courts to determine on a case-by-case basis whether registration is necessary.

• Individuals required to register must provide standard registration information including photograph, address, employment, phone numbers, email addresses, internet identities, vehicle information, and other identifying details as specified in existing law.
