SB2210 - Police Video Camera Recordings

• Amends the Freedom of Information Act to make recordings of law enforcement officers discharging firearms or officer-involved deaths from in-car video cameras or officer-worn body cameras public records available for inspection and copying.

• Allows public bodies to assert exemptions to disclosure only if supported by a court order finding the exemption applicable to the requested recording.

• Requires courts to conduct expedited hearings on the applicability of any exemptions asserted by public bodies regarding police video recordings.

• Incorporates definitions from the Law Enforcement Camera Grant Act and Police and Community Relations Improvement Act into FOIA definitions.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
