IL SB2279

Expands the definition of "State-supported institution of higher learning" to include all institutions approved by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission for the monetary award program, in addition to the nine named public universities and public community colleges.

Requires all State-supported institutions of higher learning to include a specific statement in their Policy on Demonstrations that scholarships cannot be reduced or revoked based on student-athletes' participation in or expression of First Amendment rights.

Maintains existing requirements that demonstration policies emphasize firmness, protection of civil rights, and a step-by-step approach to address disruptive campus activity.
