Department of Public Health shall publish proposed rules by September 1, 2017 to regulate Alzheimer's disease and related dementias services provided by licensed health care facilities, home health agencies, hospice programs, and similar providers.

Staff with direct access to dementia clients must complete a minimum of 6 hours of initial training certified by the Department (within 90 days for existing staff, within 60 days for new hires) and 3 hours of annual advanced training thereafter.

Program directors must complete a Department-approved Alzheimer's disease curriculum or have 5 years of prior experience directing such programs.

Providers must disclose their service philosophy, specific services offered, behavior management tactics, and drug therapies to clients upon admission or enrollment.

Entities knowingly advertising or providing non-compliant Alzheimer's disease services face violations of their licensure statutes or business offense fines of at least $1,001; Act expires 36 months after rules are adopted unless extended by the General Assembly.
