• Amends the Unified Code of Corrections to require the Department of Corrections to adopt rules permitting medical examinations of incarcerated persons by physicians or clinical psychologists of the person's choosing.

• Examinations may be permitted only if the Department determines the examination would not be harmful or dangerous to the security or safety of the incarcerated person or others in the facility.

• Clarifies the bill does not obligate the Department to provide financial assistance or any other support for obtaining or paying for examinations for those who cannot afford them.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
