Grants employees up to 2 weeks (10 work days) of unpaid bereavement leave to attend a child's funeral, make arrangements, or grieve following the death of a biological, adopted, foster, or step child.

Requires employees to use bereavement leave within 60 days of receiving notice of the child's death and provide at least 48 hours' advance notice to employers when practicable.

Allows employers to request reasonable documentation such as a death certificate, obituary, or verification from a funeral home, religious institution, or government agency.

Caps total bereavement leave at 6 weeks during any 12-month period if multiple children die, and does not extend unpaid leave rights beyond what the federal Family and Medical Leave Act permits.

Prohibits employers from taking adverse action against employees for exercising bereavement leave rights, and establishes the Department of Labor as enforcer with civil penalties of $500 for first violations and $1,000 for subsequent violations.
