IL SB2701

Amends the Illinois Pension Code to allow elected county board members to participate in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) if specific conditions are met, including adoption of a county board resolution and documentation of required work hours.

County board members first elected before the effective date of this act may participate if they elect in writing and their county has adopted the required resolution certifying the position requires at least 600 hours of annual work (or 1000 hours in certain counties).

County board members first elected on or after the effective date of this act are excluded from IMRF participation.

Requires elected county board members participating in IMRF to submit monthly time sheets documenting official government business hours and maintain participation eligibility by meeting the applicable 600 or 1000 annual hour threshold.

County boards must adopt and file the participation resolution with the Fund within 90 days after each general election in which county board members are elected.
