IL SB2818

Allows the Cook County pension board to waive the requirement for a physician's proof of disability if the employee has been compensated by the county under the Workers' Compensation Act or Workers' Occupational Diseases Act.

Permits the board to waive the physician requirement for ordinary disability maternity claims of up to 8 weeks.

Removes language requiring disabled employees to be returned to active service when their disability ceases.

Applies to employees hired after December 31, 2016: prohibits receiving disability benefits that, when combined with employment compensation and workers' compensation payments, would exceed the salary rate on which the disability benefit is based.

Becomes effective immediately upon enactment.
