IL SB2862

Amends the Military Code of Illinois to change how the Adjutant General orders Illinois National Guard personnel into active service for non-emergency State functions.

Replaces the requirement that such orders be "subject to the appropriation of funds by the General Assembly" with "subject to the availability of funds."

Removes the explicit General Assembly appropriation requirement, allowing the Adjutant General greater discretion to activate National Guard personnel for training exercises and other non-emergency functions conducted with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency.

Illinois National Guard personnel activated under this provision continue to be paid according to existing law (Sections 48 and 49).

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
