IL SB2877

Amends the Election Code to make voting more than once on the same election day a Class 3 felony when a person files an application to vote, accepts a ballot, or enters a voting machine on multiple occasions where ballots or machines list any of the same candidates and issues.

Carves out exceptions to the voting twice prohibition for persons legally giving assistance, replacing spoiled or rejected ballots, or acting at the direction of a judge of elections.

Allows prosecution for voting violations in any county where an element of the offense was committed.

Makes knowingly making false statements material to any issue in affidavits, certificates, or sworn oral declarations required by the Election Code a Class 3 felony.

Permits indictments for perjury alleging contradictory statements to proceed without specifying which statement is false, and allows prosecutors to prove perjury without establishing which contradictory statement is false.
