Amends Illinois Pension Code Section 7-155 to remove the one-year limitation on retroactive surviving spouse annuity payments, allowing payments for periods beginning prior to the application date.

Surviving spouse annuity payments for retroactive periods shall not include interest based on late payment.

Allows persons currently receiving surviving spouse annuities under the former one-year limitation to reapply for annuity payments for previously denied periods without late payment interest.

Changes apply retroactively regardless of whether the deceased spouse was in service on or after the effective date of this amendment.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
