Department of Central Management Services may annually conduct energy efficiency audits of State-owned real property identified as least energy efficient and rank all State properties by energy efficiency.

State agencies may elect to conduct energy efficiency audits of their own properties regardless of ranking, with Department assistance available.

State agencies that achieve energy cost savings from audit-recommended improvements may retain savings up to the audit cost plus an additional 10% of audit cost.

Energy efficiency audits must evaluate equipment efficiency, heating/ventilation/air conditioning use, lighting energy use, maintenance procedures, and alternate energy source costs.

Audit reports must include energy conservation recommendations, implementation timelines, and projected capital improvement costs; copies must be posted on the Department's website.
