IL SB2938

Amends the Environmental Protection Act to require the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency to conduct a study of airborne emission reductions from coal-fired electric generating units between 1990 and 2015.

Requires the Agency to forecast additional emission reductions for the period from 2015 to 2020 for coal-fired electric generating units in Illinois.

Mandates the Agency identify which of its policies have led to emission reductions and which Illinois regulations may be unnecessary due to more stringent state or federal regulations.

Requires the Agency to consult exclusively with owners of coal-fired electric generating units in the state when compiling study information.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
